Here’s what’s happening around campus and with your PTSO:
- 🍽️ Back to School Lunch — The PTSO kicked off the school year by treating teachers and staff to a delicious City Barbecue lunch! Thank you to everyone who helped make this special welcome-back event a success. 💙💛
- 💙 Support East Meck Through Direct Give — Last year, your donations provided $36,313 for student and school needs, from technology fees and athletic shoes to classroom equipment and staff events. Help us continue that impact by donating at emptso.org/donate, and check with your employer to see if they’ll match your gift!

Back to School Lunch
Last Monday, the PTSO held a Back to School Lunch for teachers and staff to help them get ready for the new school year. City Barbecue catered the event and we supplied chips, desserts and drinks. The event was well attended and all the teachers and staff were very appreciative and grateful to be able to start the year off with such a delicious meal. Big thank you to those who helped to set up and serve everyone! |

Support Our Direct Give Fund
Each year we ask for donations to the East Meck PTSO Direct Give fund. Direct Give donations support school needs throughout the year. You can make a tax-deductible donation straight to the PTSO Direct Give general fund: nothing to sell, nothing to buy.
We count on donations from our parents, families, alumni and other supporters. Last school year, we raised $36,313 to support academics, arts, wellness, family engagement and career learning. Here’s a sample of what our efforts provided:
- Cameras for journalism and photojournalism programs
- Professional training for students in broadcast journalism
- An iPad for theater for filming of rehearsals and performances
- Refrigerator for counselors
- Technology fees for students unable to pay
- Athletic shoes for students needing assistance
- T-shirts to students exiting the multilingual learner program
- A cast member from a Broadway national tour who came to a master dance class
- Items for Café 495
- Food and supplies for over 20 teacher and staff events
There are three easy ways to make your 2026 tax deductible donation:

- Drop a check off at the front office made out to the EMHS PTSO
- Mail a check to East Meck PTSO, Direct Giving Campaign, 6800 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212
Don’t forget to check with your employer to see if they will match your gift.
