Supporting East Meck, Strengthening Our Community
As we finish a holiday season and enter a new calendar year, we want to say THANK YOU to the entire East Meck PTSO community. This past year, our PTSO showed up again and again for students, families, and staff — and we couldn’t have done it without this community.
Together, we:
- Stepped up during drop-off and pick-up so students felt safe and supported
- Filled our food pantry and delivered food directly to families in need when benefits suddenly stopped
- Made sure every Eagle had a Chromebook by covering unpaid tech fees
- Supported dozens of students through Angel Tree giving
- Celebrated and supported our teachers through festive events during a challenging year
- Funded thousands of dollars in teacher grants to bring learning to life in classrooms
- Hosted fun events that built connection, pride, and community
- Represented East Meck with pride across Charlotte
This work is about removing barriers, showing up when it matters, and making sure no Eagle is left behind. As we take our first steps into 2026, we hope you’ll continue to support the East Meck PTSO — through giving, volunteering, and simply showing up for our students and staff.

Last Chance to Refresh Our Library Collection!
While East Meck’s library offers a wonderful program for students, the collection itself is in dire need of renewal. Many of the books are outdated, and there simply aren’t enough of them to meet student demand. Last year, the district provided just $1,200 for new books — enough for only about 60 titles.
According to state standards, North Carolina school libraries should have seven books per student, but East Meck currently has only 2.9 books per student. The average publication year of the collection is 2009, compared to the recommended 2015. In a world that has changed so much since 2009, that gap represents a real loss of opportunity for our students.
To address this, the library is launching a Titlewish fundraiser. All donations go directly toward purchasing new, shelf-ready books for our students and teachers. The fundraiser runs through Jan. 10, with a goal of $5,000.
