PTSO Meeting TONIGHT!

The next PTSO meeting is this evening, Dec. 9, at 7PM! This meeting will be virtual on Google Meet. To join the video meeting, click this link. Otherwise, to join by phone, dial +1 470-243-0640 and enter this PIN: 167 024 026# (This is a good option if joining from work or a device that doesn't support Google apps). Documents: Agenda; November Meeting Minutes; Financial Report (coming soon). Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there!

As the end of the year approaches, please consider donating to the East Meck PTSO to support our students, staff, and school. Your donations are already making a difference! Our grant program recently helped pay technology fees for students unable to pay, purchased a fridge for counselors, and provided an iPad for theatre filming.

Spread the Word: Use the donation letter on our website to send to family. This is our annual fundraiser and there is nothing to sell - all donations go straight to our campaign and back to meet needs at the school.

Matching Gifts: Did you know that many employers will match your gift up to a certain amount? Contact your human resources department for details.

How to Donate: You can donate online at emptso.org/donate, drop a check or cash at the EMHS office made out to “EMHS PTSO” or mail to East Meck PTSO, Direct Giving Campaign, 6800 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212

Help us Wrap Some Holiday Magic! 🎁 ✨

We’re supporting more than 35 East Meck students and their families through our Angel Tree, with gifts sponsored by amazing donors at the Robinson Bradshaw law firm. This has become one of our favorite East Meck traditions — and if you swipe through the photos from last year’s wrapping party, you’ll see why!

Come help us spread holiday cheer again this year! We’ll have festive music, treats, and a cozy space to wrap together. Students and adults are welcome—and students can earn volunteer hours! Wrapping supplies needed! Bring them with you or drop them off ahead of time in the front office. Sign up here.

Refresh Our Library Collection!

While East Meck’s library offers a wonderful program for students, the collection itself is in dire need of renewal. Many of the books are outdated, and there simply aren’t enough of them to meet student demand. Last year, the district provided just $1,200 for new books — enough for only about 60 titles.

According to state standards, North Carolina school libraries should have seven books per student, but East Meck currently has only 2.9 books per student. The average publication year of the collection is 2009, compared to the recommended 2015. In a world that has changed so much since 2009, that gap represents a real loss of opportunity for our students.

To address this, the library is launching a Titlewish fundraiser. All donations go directly toward purchasing new, shelf-ready books for our students and teachers. The fundraiser runs through Jan. 10, with a goal of $5,000.

Every contribution makes a difference and helps build a stronger, more up-to-date library for our school community. To donate, click here.
College & Career Connections
Designed for teens ages 12 to 18, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's College & Career Connections includes free programs and workshops offered by community experts and organizations including resources to pay for college, admissions essays, test prep, and online practice tests.
