Here’s what’s happening around campus and with your PTSO:

Our Students Need Us This Week

Yesterday, CMS reported that 15% of students were absent—many staying home because they did not feel safe. The number is much higher at East Meck. This is a moment for our community to step forward together and make sure every student knows they are supported.

 

We are asking for your help in two immediate ways:

 

1. Show Up During Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Your presence matters. Please join us on the Monroe Road sidewalk from 6:30–7:30am and 1:45–2:45pm (Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri this week) or 11am-12pm (Wed, for early release) to help students feel safer arriving and leaving school. Meet at the public library across from East Meck. Even 20–30 minutes makes a real difference for our kids.

 

2. Donate Food or Funds

Some students cannot safely leave home, and many families are struggling to access food. The school is distributing meals directly to affected students, and we need help keeping up. Please bring your non-perishable food donations to the school office or contribute here.

 

We urgently invite you to join our efforts to protect our kids and make sure every student feels safe coming to school.

The Impact of Your Giving

We are so thankful for our East Meck family and for all the generous donations we have received this year. Your donations have already funded many grants including: 

• iPad for theater for filming of rehearsals and performances

• Refrigerator for counselors

• Athletic shoes for student needing assistance

• Items for Café 495

• A treasure box and “treasures” for encouragement of students attending tutoring and intervention during homeroom
