Back to School Lunch
Last week the PTSO hosted a Back to School Lunch for staff as they get ready for the 2025-2026 school year! |

Open House
Open House is scheduled for this Thursday, Aug. 21, at the following times:
-
2-3pm: 11th / 12th grade students
-
3:15-4:15pm: 10th grade students
-
4:30-6pm: 9th grade students and anyone who can’t attend an earlier time.
A copy of the Student / Parent Letter scheduled to be mailed out last week can be found here.
Look for the PTSO set up outside by the carpool area to get your yard sign and learn how to get involved!

PTSO Volunteers Needed
We still need a few more volunteers for Open House sessions on Thursday, August 21 (2:00-3:00 PM for 11th & 12th grades; 3:15-4:15 PM for 10th grade; 4:30-6:00 PM for 9th grade). Your role will include answering questions, being a friendly face, and, most importantly, helping us recruit new families to join the PTSO. We still have several key positions open as we prepare for the 2025-26 school year, and we can’t continue our important work without the support of our community. Need Host Families for French Exchange Students
In mid-October, East Meck will be welcoming close to 20 students from Lille, France. We are in need of host families for a number of these students, from Oct. 16 to Nov. 2. The visiting students will attend school and extracurricular activities with their East Meck host students, but families are responsible for housing and feeding them and incorporating them into their family life during the evenings and weekends. This is a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural exchange. Your East Meck student does NOT need to be enrolled in French to participate.
If you are interested in hosting a student, please contact the parent coordinator for this exchange: Christine Haynes, at christine.s.haynes@gmail.com. Please plan to attend an organizational meeting for host families on Monday, Sept. 8, at 6pm in the classroom of Ms. Young, room 5302.
